Cedric Burgers - Principal Architect   Architect AIBC, MRAIC, LEED AP, Accredited Passivhaus Designer  Cedric holds a bachelors degree in anthropology and a masters degree in Architecture from the University of British Columbia, where he also taught as an assistant professor in the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He worked for the architect Daniel Liebeskind and Muller Knippscheld Wehburg Landscape Architects in Berlin Germany. He has served on design review committees for the District of West Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver.

Marieke Burgers - Senior Interior Architect   Marieke Burgers has been with Burgers Architecture since it’s inception in 1981. While she studied in The Netherlands business management at the Schoevers Institute in The Hague and later Urban Land Economics at the University of BC, her primary passion and interest has always been Interior Design. In the design oriented environment of the Architectural office Marieke developed the Interior Design department of the firm and has acquired over the years an extensive portfolio of upscale private residences, as well as commercial projects, with a European sensibility for modern elegance. The philosophy of plane shapes, combined with distinctive, fine materials reflecting the contemporary and individual lifestyle of the client is shared between architects and interior designers in the company and ensures a seamless product.

Mary Burgers - Interior Designer, Communications Director   Mary holds an undergraduate degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and St. Charles University in Prague, after which she studied graphic design and advertising at the Academy of Design and Graphic Design in Toronto, as well as interior design at BCIT. Mary has since been involved in interior design at Burgers Architecture. Recently she has led the firm’s effort to bring Dutch Design to the forefront in partnership with IDS Vancouver and Dutch Design Week and gives regular talks on passive housing.

Joanna Sotomska - Intern Architect RAIC   Joanna is an architectural technologist. Graduated from BCIT's Architectural & Building Technology Diploma program in 2015 and currently is enrolled in RAIC’s Syllabus Program. Has worked in multiple offices specializing in multi-family, institutional & custom single family homes in the past 5 years.

Greg Lettau - Construction Manager   Greg has been a production manager and team leader for over twenty years. In 2002 he began his career in construction and his love of great design, demand of quality workmanship and quest for perfection in building has lead him to join the team at Burgers Architecture where he continues to push the boundaries in building details, materials and quality. Greg has found new challenges in the implementation of cutting edge building techniques and products. As the world moves more and more towards higher standards of energy efficiency in homes, Greg has positioned the company to be a leader in the industry of Passive House Construction.

Karolline Turcato - Graduate Architect   Karolline is a registered architect in Brazil, with a bachelor degree in Architecture and Urbanism from University of Cuiaba, Brazil. She managed her own architectural practice in her hometown after graduating. In 2015 Karolline emigrated to Canada and is currently in the process of becoming a registered architect in BC through the AIBC Internship program.

Prior to Burgers Architecture, he worked for a small architecture firm based out of Seattle, Washington, and several engineering firms before pursuing architecture. He is also the co-founder of Emergent Risk Lab, a collective of researchers and designers focused on resilient solutions that address natural disasters that threaten urban areas around the world.

He was responsible for the production of contract documentation for Schools, Libraries, Fire Halls and various public sector buildings.  Rik joined Burgers Architecture in 1998, coinciding with the shift to CADD. Rik has an extensive knowledge of wood frame construction and the housing sector, and is also knowledgeable in detailing concrete and steel structures. Rik's knowledge and has been acquired through experience and an inquisitive mind.
